Tournaments moving from eteamz to Active.com
What is Active.com and why are tournaments located there now?

Active.com and eteamz share the same parent company, The Active Network. In order to consolidate all features that are related to building an online community (ex: Message Boards, Tournaments, Announcements, etc) into one single area, we are combining the communities for Active.com and eteamz. Going forward, Active.com will be home for all community-related communications, events, etc. eteamz will remain the tool for creating and publishing Team, League, and Organization websites

I did a search and there were even less tournaments for 2011 listed compared to eteamz. Also I asked for ASA fastpitch and got only 1. This STINKS!!

Cant find any 14u tournaments in the entire state of Illinois. This site is crap. Hopefully you guys figure it out. I will check it out again in a month or two.
-
I scheduled all of my tournaments on the old eteamz site. It WAS very easy to locate tournaments by date range, age group and location. Anybody out there have any other sites you can recommend???
-
-
go to www.usssa.com The have tournaments for every state. Here in Ca, they have a tournament every week. Hope this helps.

I loved coming to eteamz to find tournaments or to get information on tournaments my daughter was going to. I just did a search from now to Feb 2011 and it told me there was none within a 100 mile radius of me. I know for a fact there is one in my town in Jan 2011. I sure you get this fixed cause this is crazy.

Hello everyone,
Our developers have identified the problem and are working diligently on getting softball tournaments available in the search engine. The fix is taking longer than originally expected. However, we expect to have this problem resolved shortly. Please check back shortly.
Thank you.-
This new format stinks. LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE. I am now thinking of moving my team sites to another provider. I hope you fix this soon.

We are working to resolve this inconvenience as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you can find softball tournaments by keyword search.
Visit http://search.active.com and enter, for example "fastpitch softball tournament Illinois" -

I just did a search for fastpitch softball tournament Illinois and nothing came up. This new system stinks big time. The old system was so good and so user friendly. Why did you have to change? BRING BACK THE OLD SYSTEM!

Hi John,
We are working to restore the search functionality for softball tournaments. In the meantime you can find them by keyword search. Here's a link to tournaments in Illinois:

I have spent several hours now trying to find a tourney we are playing in this weekend today and still have not found it... this Active.com thing is a joke!

Hello everyone,
I am happy to inform you that we have resolved the problem related to searching eteamz Softball tournaments on Active.com.
Please give it a try and let us know if you encounter any problems.

Thank you.
Jason-
Jason you have not resolved anything young man. Understand this I use to be able to pull up tournaments speciftic to age group, city and state. Now it takes for ever to look at all the unnecessary information that your site provides because I'm not able to filter out the unnecessary information. What a bad move you guys made.

Hello Art,
You can still search for tournaments by age group, city and state.
Here is an example of Softball Fast Pitch Tournaments in Illinois for Age Group 13 & Under
http://search.active.com/search?k=&f=...
If you click "Refine Your Search" you'll find the options you're looking for.
We're in the process of making these options more obvious.
Thank you for your feedback.

This site is not user friendly. The previous site worked great. The only response from employee is regarding softball tournaments in IL. The problem is with all tourneys in all states. Please fix the problem. The old site worked great. Maybe consider setting this one up like it. 9U baseball coach KY

Thank you for the feedback, Dawson. We will continue to make improvements to the tournament search and count on input from our users like you to help get it right.

Go back to the old format. It was right!!!

This change is not going to make things easier but instead they have become harder. Most people will problably just go to other sites from now on. I truly belive that Eteamz has made a huge mistake by taking this drastic change!
-
-
You think it was just about softball? Baseball tournament searching is very cumbersome and not near the listings as previous. When has it ever been a good move to take a simple process that so many people used and complicate the system by changing it. Active will not benefit from this move at all, remember change is always difficult but if it is a positive change people adjust if it isn't there are too many options in today's market. Every unhappy visitor to a site isn't just lost revenue from losing that person, but also multiplied on average by 2.5. Our email list goes to over seven hundred college coaches and thousands of players/parents, which we will recommend other sites for team websites and tournaments in our next newsletter.

ecatcher36,
Thank you for your comments. A change of this magnitude is often disruptive. But we are confident that it positions us to provide more comprehensive and competitive services to our team sports audience in the long run.
Also, this change has instantly introduced your tournaments to the 3.3M people who visit Active.com every month.
Please keep this in mind as you evaluate other free site management and tournament listing services.
Sincerely,
Jason Aloia -

-
-
please change it back to original format...you are killing my tournament!
-
-
We dont need 3.3M people viewing our tournaments. What we need are people who are local to be able to easily find the tournaments and easily decipher thru them...please change back.
-
-
Our league was new to eteamz this past summer and found it a wonderful tool for posting tourneys as well as finding them. This new format sucks!!! We will definitely be moving on to greener pastures. I have discussed this with 3 other local leagues and they are also frustrated. We hope your 3.3M viewers are happy. I can speak for several thousand who are done with this!
-
-
Please let me know what other sites to find softball tournaments. I am looking for areas/states around Southern Illinois. I have always used eteamz so I don't really know where else to look. THANKS!!

Hello Amy,
The Active.com tournament search is a great resource for tournaments in your area.
Here's a direct link: http://search.active.com/search?k=&f=... -
-
Jason Aloia,
I am willing to wager that not too many people care about your 3.3M members. What they care about is people in the local area being able to find tournaments in their local area.
Eteamz was for the little tournaments. The big tournaments get plenty of exposure in many venues. For us little guys, eteamz was our main outlet and now you have destroyed it.
Please change back to the old system for the little guy's sake. -
-
Please bring back eteamz. This time last year I was already planning our spring travel baseball season and had plenty of tournaments to choose from. The search feature on active.com is a disaster and yield no, or little, results depending on how you input your search criteria. Does anyone know of an alternative search site fro travel baseball. UGH!!!!!!!!!!
-
Go to www.usssa.com. You will find plenty of tournaments in your state.
-

-
don C Lillie Jr - Your reply of going to USSSA to finding tournaments is NOT the answer - they only list USSSA tournaments. There are many others that have FINE tournaments. ASA is considered to have the very best teams going to theirs. I posted a HELP message on ETEAMZ in their COMMUNITY section under both 'MESSAGE BOARD & ANNOUNCEMENTS" to ask tournament directors where they are putting their information. Hopefully this works because Active.com DOES NOT REPLY to my questions.

Absolutely hate the new tournament listing screen. Don't like the looks or the function. Can u offer the previous window as a classic style?

Eteamz and Active better wake up fast! This is a mess!
The best advice that can be given here is to listen to all the responses from the users. There is not one good comment about the changes that have been made to the way the tournaments are listed. I have been using eteamz for 10 years to find tournaments and it was never this difficult. You better think strongly about changing back to the old format before all the coaches and sponsors/advertisers find a better more user friendly site to locate tournaments.
Instead of Jason wasting time trying to convince everyone that the changes are better, give us what we are asking for and show us that you care about your users. The old format is 100% better and what we want. All change is not good!
. -
-
This new format is terrible. Not only can you not find tournaments but if you can't easily find any other of the other options such as teams looking for pick up players, etc. We have used eteamz for years and are very disappointed in these changes.
-
-
Attn: Softball Coaches - For those of you looking for a alternative to what you used to use on eteamz, check out www.heybucket.com
I believe is operated and managed by a person with the Minors Gold fastpitch program out of Southern California.
The changes that were made to this site are absolutely ridiculous as they have zero concern for the user experience of their customers. They really took something that worked well for so many people and without notice, screwed up what we all used as a vital tool for managing our teams.
Good luck in finding what you need and to the managers/principals at eteamz: figure it out....change it back....listen to your customers or someone will fill the niche and poof, your business will fade. -
-
Try batsoffire.com. He lists some tournaments on there sometimes.
-
-
this sucks to all advetisers dont do it, better off with baseballfirst.com for baseball tournaments,,, was so much easier the way it was before, you guys screwed the pooch here, dumb dumb dumb whoever designed or suggested the change should be fired

-
50 replies and all negitive comments. At what point do you think you should change it back to the original format and maybe work on a new fomat that would meet Active.com needs. All I see is people looking for another source for information and Active.com losing customers. At one point Active.com will not need a format because they will NOT have anymore viewers
-
CHARLES IS DEAD ON THE MONEY. WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE POSITIVE RESPONSE YOU MIGHT WANT TO RECONSIDER YOUR CHOICE TO CHANGE THE FORMAT. I HAVE BEEN USUNG ETEAMZ FOR 5 YEARS AND WOULD CONSIDER IT TO BE THE BEST SITE FOR BASEBALL TOURNAMENTS / BASEBALL INFORMATION I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE NEW FORMAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE WORST BASEBALL SITE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR MYSELF BUT IF THE SITE IS NOT CHANGED BACK YOU HAVE CERTAINTLY LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO ALSO EXPLAIN TO YOUR EMPLOYEE JASON THE CONCEPT OF THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. JASON HAS ZERO PEOPLE SKILLS AND IT SHOWS EVERY TIME HE SENDS A RESPONSE. TOM W.

We do sincerely appreciate your feedback and recognize that that Active.com search experience is not living up to expectations of the eteamz tournaments audience.
We are using this thread's feedback to inform improvements to Active.com search, which you will begin seeing rolled out later this month and continuing through the first quarter of next year.
It would be helpful and appreciated if you could include specific features or functionality that you miss from the eteamz search experience.
Thank you.

Jason,
I think everyone is telling what they don't like. EVERYTHING!!! Change it back to EXACTLY how the format was on eteamz. Thanks.-
Hi quakesoftball,
Unfortunately, due to both technical and strategic reasons, returning eteamz tournament search to their original format is not an option.
Your continued constructive feedback will help us develop Active.com into an experience that meets your expectations.
Thank you.

Why Jason? If you built it once you can do it again. When people start leaving eteamz will it be an option then? Put the same setup on active instead of the junk we deal with now. Why wasn't it tested before it was launched? When all these tournaments start losing money and people go else where maybe you all will wake up then.

Jason,
So y9ou mean to tell me that it is impossible to have the front page be like it was before? Where you choose the state and also how many different age groups you want.-
Thanks for the specific feedback, quakesoftball. It is indeed possible to present a select box for the state and options for the age groups you're interested in.
We intend to make this specific functionality available on the front pages in the very near future. In the mean time, you can filter Active.com searches this way by entering your state as the "Location" and selecting Age Groups under "Refine Your Search."
Here's an example of 10U & 11U Baseball tournaments in California.

The softball tournament season gets going strong in Feb. This is a stupid strategic move. If the strategy was to drive away customers it was a great idea. I have canceled my account with eteamz for 4 teams because of this. The tournament locater was great. Now eteamz offers nothing speacial. If anyone can tell me how to build a site to show tournament info I will do it. I already bought the site gafastpitchsoftball.com to do it. Just need help getting it going.

Jason, I did a search for WA tournaments (Baseball) and nothing starts until July and then there are 5 pages of them. Is the date sort option working correctly?
-
-
It is obvious, that the answer Christina has posted via the company, does NOT answer the questions or satisfy the frustration felt by everyone who used Eteamz as a tournament locater. If the company as Jason says is proposing to use eteamz to be a site or team builder, then why not use active for that purpose and bring back the eteamz format for tournament location by state, age, activity?
Jason or Christina , do either of you have kids who are involved in sports and their coaches use Eteamz to find tournaments?
Jason you had stated your company hoped to have Active lined out by first quarter, that is too LATE, when using Eteamz, by Jan we would have our tournament schedule out, so families could schedule vacations or family outings, saying you would have lined out by first quarter is a stall tactic, it is plain, that by all the responses, everyone has been very specific, that NO ONE likes what your company has done and by the time you propose to have a solution is not going to be satisfactory. Eteamz was a good thing, if it is not broke, DON'T FIX IT!!! Your company needs to be giving the complaints listed above some attention, otherwise, people, and that will be alot of people, maybe not 3.3 million, nonetheless, they are users, customers, whom have given specific complaints and it does not look like anyone on your end is addressing these issues or getting the desired results in a satisfactory manner.
Please pass along and advise, as to when these issues will be resolved in detail.
Regards

What happen to the eteamz system for listing tournaments, this new system does not work I keep getting server errors and the system is very confusing. Before the Eteamz system would just list the events. This new system is not very good.
